3rd International
Symposium of Knowledge and Argument Visualization, KV07 |
||

Knowledge
Visualization aims at improving the creation and communication of knowledge
by complementary visualization methods. While information visualization (IV)
concentrates on the use of computer-supported tools to get new insights,
knowledge visualization (KV) focuses on the creation and communication of
insights. Beyond the interactive visualization of data or the transfer of
facts, knowledge visualization aims to further transfer insights,
experiences, attitudes, values, expectations, perspectives, opinions, and
predictions. Knowledge
Visualization has it's roots in Visualization Science and fields such as
Psychology, Design, Communication Science, Visual Perception and Cognition,
Learning Sciences, and Knowledge Management. Or everywhere where it is a
key-issue to make knowledge visible so that it can be better identified,
accessed, shared, discussed, applied, and generally managed. Aims The
Third International Symposium of Knowledge and Argument Visualization aims at
providing an interdisciplinary forum for researchers and practitioners from
different disciplines (e.g., Knowledge Visualization, Information
Architecture, Argument Visualization, Information Visualization, Knowledge
Management, Information Design, Information Architecture, Cognitive Art,
Infoaestethics, Interface Design, Virtual Reality, Visual Perception and
Cognition, Storytelling) to address and discuss theories, methodologies,
techniques, applications, evaluations, and case studies related to Knowledge
Visualization. Scope The symposium will seek original papers
concerning, but not limited to the following topics:
IV07-KV Advisory and Programme committee Remo Burkhard,
University of St. Gallen, http://www.unisg.ch Martin Eppler,
University of Lugano, http://www.lu.unisi.ch Michael Meier,

Tergan, Knowledge Media Research Center, http://www.iwm-kmrc.de Greg Judelman,
noesis studio, http://www.noesisstudio.com Stefan Bertschi
A main
goal of the symposium is to demonstrate and compare different visual
techniques, models, and approaches that can be utilized to transfer
knowledge. To do so, we will organize a small exhibition on knowledge
visualization examples in the main hall of the conference. If you would like
to exhibit an example of your work, please contact Remo Burkhard.
We further plan
to build a Special Issue on Knowledge Visualization in a Journal or produce
an edited book if the quality of the contributions is outstanding. |
